Independent filmmaker Richard Hall specializes in documentaries on history and politics. He also enjoys visiting the National Archives to discover public domain films to share with the public at the Nerds Make Media YouTube channel. Richard departed C-SPAN in 2021 after 30 years at the public affairs network - working primarily as a video journalist for Book TV, then American History TV in his final 10 years. Richard's independent films include, American Feud: A History of Conservatives & Liberals , Confounding Father: A Contrarian View of the US Constitution, The World We Wanted, The Lost Trees of Willow Avenue, and many others. From time to time he presents “Vintage Movie Night” screenings of short classroom and ephemeral films organized by themes such as “Travel Films” and “Films that Whitewash American History.” He is currently editing several documentaries for the nonprofit Saving Slave Houses. Richard lives in Aspen Hill, Maryland with his wife & filmmaking partner Simone Fary. They have two sons and a large native plant garden.
